JUNIOR TENNIS COACHING
NRTA run junior programmes for ages 4-18 years. Incorporating Tennis Australia’s ‘Hotshots’ programme up to High Performance training for tournament players
RED BALL HOTSHOTS
Students in this stage use 25% compression red balls that bounce lower and slower. Encouraging success, and hence enjoyment. All play is on modified courts (3 or 6 metre wide courts). This helps kids develop basic motor & hand/eye skills. Loads of varied activities offered, with a games based approach.
The recommended racquet size for this stage is 21-23 inches.
Age – 5-8 years
Duration – 45 minutes


ORANGE BALL HOTSHOTS
Orange Stage, students play on regular width, courts with reduced length. They use 50% compression orange balls. This helps build tracking & movement skills on the court. Challenging the student further.
The recommended racquet size for this stage is 23-25 inches.
Age – 8-10 years
Duration – 60 minutes

GREEN BALL HOTSHOTS
Green Ball students use 75% compression green balls and play on a full-size court. By this stage, their motor skills and tennis game should be progressing at a steady pace. By this stage, players should be capable of playing in local fixtures.
The recommended racquet size for this stage is 25-27 inches.

Duration – 60 minutes


YELLOW BALL GROUP LESSONS
Caters for both social and competitive players. Yellow Ball players further develop their technique and match play skills. They’ll learn how to rally with better consistency and power, improve their court coverage, doubles team work and net play. Students have the chance to compete in tournaments with the aim of playing the sport at a more advanced level.
Age – 10-18 years
Duration – 60 minutes

Lessons and training are one thing. But if you want to really accelerate your progress, “you just gotta play!” We offer comprehensive social and competitive matchplay for kids and adults.
Northern Rivers Junior League
The Northern Rivers region is fortunate to have a great junior interclub fixtures comp. The envy of other regions in the State.This comp is for Green and Yellow Ball players. It is held on a Saturday morning, 8-10am ish. It runs on a school term basis. With four separate comps run each term. In terms one and four, players compete for their individual club, 4 players per team. Each player plays one singles and one doubles match. In terms two and three, players are graded and clubs mixed somewhat. To ensure an even competitive format. Each player plays one singles and two doubles.

The next progressive step for those who are enjoying the Junior League fixtures. Our players compete in the Upper North East region of this State based, entry level, tournament series. These tournaments run from February to July each year. Culminating in Regional Champion of Champion playoffs (for those who qualify) in August. And a potential State final in Sydney in October.

JT events are for the serious player,wanting to develop their full potential and have an Australian Ranking. By testing out their game against same-aged players. Players are local, statewide and national competitors.
